ACECAD DM-L2 CAN DIGITAL RECORDACCSHAND WRITTEN NOTES W/ORDINARY PAPER

Amazon.com Product Description

The SolidTek DM-L2 DigiMemo L2 8-1/2-by-11-Inch Digital Notepad is a stand-alone device that can digitally capture what you write and draw on regular paper--with no special paper or computer. The Digital Notepad remembers the strokes that you draw and when you are done, you simply plug the Notepad into your computer via USB and upload your notes. Then you will have both a digital and a paper copy. The included DigiMemo Manager software lets you easily view, edit, and organize your digital pages in Windows. The digital pages can be saved as BMP, JPG, GIF, or PNG formats. You can then easily share your digital pages with others, or highlight, annotate, and edit them.

When the pad is connected to a PC, it can function as a graphics tablet, with the writing on the paper and the writing on the screen synchronized. The DigiMemo L2 has a writing area of 8 by 11 inches and has 32 MB of built-in storage, with a CompactFlash memory card slot for expansion. The pad is light and thin, and isn't uncomfortable to hold or use. The battery of the pen can last about 14 months and the pad will last about 100 hours on four AAA alkaline batteries. The unit automatically shuts down after 30 idle minutes.

Nathan Stewart Said: More gadget than tool ( Nov. 11th 2009 )
Wanted one of these for a while. Finally got it - it more or less works, the pad is bulky and needs protection. The software is clunky. The plastic 'tablet' tip came apart in the pen when I tried to remove it. Could be really neat - with the right handwriting & indexing package. Because the tablet is large and the tablet interface while plugged in works in absolute mode - its a little clunky for use as a mouse, lacks the pressure resolution to be useful as an artistic tool. It's neat, just not $120ish neat. Wish I'd tried one of the cheaper pen only versions.
EC Said: LOVE IT! ( Oct. 15th 2009 )
I am a therapist and I take a lot of notes. If I am doing home care then I have to have the patient or a family member sign for attendance. This thing is fabulous and now I do not have to go make copies and maintain tons of paper.

Works great as advertised. Lightweight and rugged enough to carry around all day in teh portfolio.
Steven Green Said: Happy...so far ( Oct. 7th 2009 )
The DigiMemo L2 is a nice device if you don't have a tablet. I synch it up with MS OneNote and it works well. One of the bars on the battery level does not work but it is one of the middle ones so it doesn't really matter. So far, I am quite happy with the purchase.
Digital product user Said: Not reliable ( Jul. 10th 2009 )
When the device worked, it was a great product and would have saved me considerable time. I scan my meeting notes on a scanner and was thrilled at the prospect of skipping the scanning step. However, the device did not work. When I tried to transfer the files created by the digital notebook they were corrupt and could not be opened or copied. Now I have to pack it up and return it. It is very frustrating to go to a meeting, take ten pages of notes (being careful to advance the pages, number the pages, etc) and then come back to the office and only be able to retrieve some or none of them. I am not sure who SolidTek is; the device shipped to me was made by ACECAD, a company in Taiwan.
